Callbell alternatives

Callbell alternatives for small businesses

Callbell is a simple, fairly priced way for a few people to share one WhatsApp number. People look elsewhere for two opposite reasons: they need more platform, or they want the messages handled without anyone answering. Here are four options, including ours.

Last checked against each vendor's own site on September 20, 2026.

Why people search for Callbell alternatives

Where the fit gets loose for a very small business.

  • The seat price is low. The bot builder and broadcasts are paid add-ons and WhatsApp usage is metered beyond a monthly allowance, so the monthly total depends on what you switch on.
  • Automation is a flow builder you assemble yourself. Drawing the flow is work someone has to do, and until it's done you are still answering by hand.
  • There is no booking calendar. Appointments go through a Calendly link or a person typing out free slots.
  • A shared inbox helps when several people answer. A business with one person answering wants fewer messages, not better assignment.

What Callbell genuinely gets right

If this is the problem you have, Callbell is a sensible answer to it.

  • Several agents on one WhatsApp number, with assignment and notes, plus a bot builder and broadcasts when you need them.
  • Telegram sits alongside WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and TikTok — rarer in this category than it should be.
  • It is easy to learn, with little to configure before a team can start answering.
  • A strong customer base in southern Europe and Latin America, where WhatsApp is how business gets done.

Four Callbell alternatives worth comparing

Below are four real platforms — including ours. Each summary is meant to be the kind of thing the team behind the tool would agree with.

Meerlume

That's us

Describe your business once. Get a working booking bot on the chat apps your customers already use.

Best for

Small service businesses that need bookings, intake, or lead qualification in chat without learning a flow builder.

Genuinely good at

  • Generating a full conversational flow from a plain-language description, a voice note, or an attached price list.
  • One bot on WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Messenger, and a chat widget on your own website.
  • Built-in calendar with real availability, customer reschedule and cancel, and on the Growth plan a deposit or payment inside the chat.
  • Owner notifications with one-tap Accept/Deny from Telegram, plus human takeover when a chat needs you.
  • Built in any language — describe the business in Spanish or Portuguese and the whole bot speaks it.

Callbell's answer to a busy WhatsApp number is more hands: seats, assignment, notes. Meerlume's answer is fewer messages that need hands at all. A bot generated from a description of your business walks the customer through services, shows real free slots, and books, on WhatsApp and Telegram as Callbell does, plus Instagram, Messenger, and your website. The bot builder isn't an add-on and there is no flow to draw. The limits matter if you are a team: a Meerlume account is one login, so two colleagues can't work the inbox under their own names, there are no broadcasts and no TikTok, and the bot only follows its flow; anything off it waits for you. For one owner between customers, that is usually enough. For a sales desk of five, stay with Callbell.

Superchat

Visit site

AI-powered business messenger, German made, with servers in Germany.

Best for

Local businesses in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland that want one inbox for every messaging app, email, SMS, and phone, plus WhatsApp newsletters.

Genuinely good at

  • A unified inbox across WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, SMS, web chat, email, and phone.
  • WhatsApp newsletters and review collection.
  • An AI agent that answers from your knowledge base, with no code to write.
  • GDPR posture — per its site, servers in Germany, ISO 27001, and no training on your data.

Superchat is the step up from Callbell in breadth: one inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, SMS, web chat, email, and phone, plus WhatsApp newsletters, review collection, and an AI agent that answers from a knowledge base. Per its site it is made in Germany, with servers there and ISO 27001 certification. It costs more than Callbell's seats, and bookings still go through a connected tool such as Calendly or Shore.

WhatsApp-first engagement platform with broadcasts and AI agents.

Best for

Online stores, schools, and sales teams that run WhatsApp campaigns at volume and want a shared inbox behind them.

Genuinely good at

  • Fast onboarding onto the WhatsApp Business API, with templates ready to go.
  • Broadcast campaigns and a shared team inbox.
  • A no-code flow builder, with AI agents available as an add-on.
  • Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, SMS, RCS, and a web widget alongside WhatsApp.

If broadcasts are why you are outgrowing Callbell, Wati is built around them: template campaigns, fast onboarding onto the WhatsApp Business API, a shared inbox for the replies, and AI agents as an add-on. Channels include Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, SMS, and a web widget, though not Telegram, which Callbell has. Look at the whole bill: subscription, message charges paid through Wati, and the AI add-on.

respond.io

Visit site

AI-powered conversation platform for B2C sales and support teams.

Best for

Mid-sized teams handling high message volume across many channels, with routing, workflows, and reporting needs.

Genuinely good at

  • Channel breadth — WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, TikTok, email, and calls in one inbox.
  • Workflows and AI agents trained on your own documents.
  • Routing, assignment, and reporting for teams of agents.
  • Booking through integrations with Calendly, Cal.com, and Google Calendar.

respond.io is what a Callbell team grows into: WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, TikTok, email, and calls in one inbox, with routing, workflows, reporting, and AI agents trained on your documents. Pricing is by monthly active contacts plus seats, and workflows and AI agents are not part of the entry plan. Booking runs through Calendly, Cal.com, or Google Calendar. It is more platform than a team of three needs.

Where we fit

Why pick Meerlume instead

The differences that matter when there is no team to share the inbox with.

Callbell organises the people who answer messages. Meerlume reduces how many messages need a person at all. You describe the business in a few paragraphs and get a working bot that walks customers through your services and books the appointment against your real availability.

Because the bot is generated from a description, there is no flow to draw first. You can get to a bot you can test in one sitting, and edit it afterwards by chatting to the builder.

What Callbell has that Meerlume doesn't: TikTok, broadcasts, and seats. A Meerlume account is a single login, and the bot follows the flow you described; an off-script question hands over to you. If you have five people answering sales enquiries all day, that matters more than a calendar.

Describe-it, don't draw-it

The flow is generated from a description, a voice note, or an attached price list. No add-on, no canvas to start from.

Calendar built in

Services, durations, opening hours, and staff calendars on the Growth plan. Customers pick a real slot and can reschedule or cancel in the chat.

An inbox for the exceptions

Every conversation lands in one inbox. Step in when a customer asks for a person, then hand back to the bot.

Any-language bots

Describe the business in Italian or Spanish and the whole bot speaks it — no translated copies to maintain.

Callbell alternatives FAQ

Can several people use Meerlume's inbox?
No. A Meerlume account is a single login, with no seats or agent assignment. The inbox is for the owner stepping in when the bot hands over. If several people need to answer the same number, Callbell or respond.io fits better.
Does Meerlume work on Telegram like Callbell does?
Yes, and Telegram is on the free plan. In most cases Meerlume creates and connects the Telegram bot for you. On paid plans the same bot also runs on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and your website.
Will I pay per message?
Not to Meerlume. Plans are a flat monthly price with a conversation allowance. Past the allowance the bot keeps answering, but new conversations stay locked in the inbox until you move up a plan. On WhatsApp, Meta bills you directly under its own message pricing, and nothing is added on top.
Can I send broadcasts?
No. Meerlume answers customers who write to you; it doesn't run outbound campaigns. Callbell, Wati, and Superchat all offer them.
How long does switching take?
Building the bot is one sitting: describe the business, test the preview, publish. Moving a WhatsApp number means disconnecting it from the old platform and reconnecting it through Meta's signup. How long that takes depends on Meta, not on either tool.
