Superchat alternatives for small businesses

Superchat is a well-made business messenger with a strong data-protection story, and it serves many of the same trades we do. The question is whether you need an inbox for your team or a bot that finishes the booking for you. Here's a fair look at four options, including ours.

Last checked against each vendor's own site on September 20, 2026.

Why people search for Superchat alternatives

Where the fit gets loose for a small business. None of this means Superchat is a bad product.

  • It is an inbox first. Someone still reads and answers most messages.
  • The price is set for a team. For a solo practitioner or a two-chair salon, the monthly plan plus add-ons is a real line in the budget.
  • There is no calendar of its own. Bookings go through a connected tool such as Calendly or Shore, which is a second subscription to set up and pay for.
  • Newsletters, reviews, and phone are valuable if you use them. If all you wanted was bookings in WhatsApp, you are paying for a suite.

What Superchat genuinely gets right

If these matter to how you run the business, Superchat may well stay the right answer.

  • One inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, SMS, web chat, email, and phone — nothing gets lost between apps.
  • Data protection is a first-class feature: its site states servers in Germany, ISO 27001 certification, and no training on your data.
  • WhatsApp newsletters and review collection are built in, and they bring customers back.
  • Onboarding is simple, with a free trial and a product that non-technical teams pick up quickly.

Four Superchat alternatives worth comparing

Below are four real platforms — including ours. Each summary is meant to be the kind of thing the team behind the tool would agree with.

Meerlume

That's us

Describe your business once. Get a working booking bot on the chat apps your customers already use.

Best for

Small service businesses that need bookings, intake, or lead qualification in chat without learning a flow builder.

Genuinely good at

  • Generating a full conversational flow from a plain-language description, a voice note, or an attached price list.
  • One bot on WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Messenger, and a chat widget on your own website.
  • Built-in calendar with real availability, customer reschedule and cancel, and on the Growth plan a deposit or payment inside the chat.
  • Owner notifications with one-tap Accept/Deny from Telegram, plus human takeover when a chat needs you.
  • Built in any language — describe the business in Spanish or Portuguese and the whole bot speaks it.

Superchat and Meerlume serve the same salons, practices, and studios from opposite ends. Superchat gathers every channel into an inbox for your team and helps them answer faster. Meerlume tries to make the answer unnecessary: a bot generated from your description shows real free slots from its own calendar, takes the booking, and notifies you, with no Calendly or Shore subscription behind it. What's missing is most of the suite: no newsletters, no review requests, no email or phone, no reminders yet, and no team, since an account is one login. The bot also follows a flow; it isn't an AI agent reading a knowledge base, so unusual questions come to you. We publish our data-processing terms and sub-processors, but we don't offer Superchat's German-hosting guarantee.

European omnichannel team inbox with AI agents.

Best for

European retail, travel, and hospitality teams who answer customers across email, WhatsApp, social, and phone.

Genuinely good at

  • A polished shared inbox across email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, SMS, live chat, and voice.
  • AI agents you set up with a prompt rather than a flow.
  • A European company, which matters to buyers who want an EU counterparty.
  • Strong hospitality and leisure use cases.

Compared with Superchat, Trengo is the same idea at a larger size: a Dutch team inbox across email, WhatsApp, social, SMS, live chat, and voice, with prompt-built AI agents. Plans are priced by conversation volume with seats for a whole team, and AI-handled conversations cost extra. It fits when Superchat's inbox has become too small for the team; it is a big step up for a single practice.

Callbell

Visit site

Simple shared inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Telegram.

Best for

Small sales and support teams, especially in Italy, Spain, and Latin America, who need several people answering one WhatsApp number.

Genuinely good at

  • Several agents on one WhatsApp number, with assignment and internal notes.
  • WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, and TikTok in one place.
  • Low per-seat pricing and a product that is easy to learn.
  • A flow-based bot builder and broadcasts, each available as an add-on.

Callbell is the lighter option next to Superchat: a per-seat shared inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, and TikTok, without the newsletters, reviews, email, or phone. The bot builder and broadcasts are paid add-ons and WhatsApp usage is metered beyond an allowance. If all you need from Superchat is several people answering one number, Callbell does that for less. It has no booking calendar.

WhatsApp-first engagement platform with broadcasts and AI agents.

Best for

Online stores, schools, and sales teams that run WhatsApp campaigns at volume and want a shared inbox behind them.

Genuinely good at

  • Fast onboarding onto the WhatsApp Business API, with templates ready to go.
  • Broadcast campaigns and a shared team inbox.
  • A no-code flow builder, with AI agents available as an add-on.
  • Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, SMS, RCS, and a web widget alongside WhatsApp.

Where Superchat is an inbox with newsletters attached, Wati is a campaign tool with an inbox attached. It is WhatsApp-first, strong at template broadcasts and quick API onboarding, with Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, SMS, and a web widget alongside. The bill has three lines: subscription, message charges paid through Wati, and AI agents as an add-on. Choose it if WhatsApp newsletters are the part of Superchat you use most.

Where we fit

Why pick Meerlume instead

A different answer to the same problem: fewer messages to answer, not a better place to answer them.

Superchat makes a team faster at answering customers. Meerlume is for the business that doesn't have a team. You describe how the business runs — services, prices, hours, rules — and get a bot that walks customers through your services, shows real free slots, takes the booking, and on the Growth plan collects a deposit, all inside the chat.

You still have an inbox, and you can step into any conversation and reply as yourself. But the default is that the conversation finishes without you, and you hear about it as a notification. If you approve bookings by hand, you can accept or decline straight from the Telegram message.

What you give up is the suite. Meerlume has no newsletters, no review collection, no appointment reminders yet, no email or phone channel, and one login where Superchat has a team. The bot follows the flow you described; it isn't an AI agent that answers anything a customer types, and an off-script question hands over to you. If those are how you win repeat business, Superchat does more. If the problem is that booking messages interrupt your working day, Meerlume solves that one directly.

A bot that finishes the job

Generated from a description of your business, it handles the whole booking — questions, slot, confirmation — without waiting for a person.

Its own calendar

Services, durations, weekly hours, overrides, and staff calendars on the Growth plan. Customers reschedule and cancel in the chat, and your calendar updates at once.

Deposits in the chat

On the Growth plan, connect your own Stripe account and the bot takes a deposit or the full price before it confirms. Meerlume takes no cut.

One bot, five channels

WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Messenger, and a widget on your site run the same bot, with one inbox and one calendar behind them.

Superchat alternatives FAQ

Is Meerlume a replacement for Superchat's inbox?
Only partly. Meerlume puts every channel the bot runs on into one inbox, with live takeover, notes, and saved replies, but it is a single login, not a team inbox. It does not bring in email, SMS, or phone calls. If your team works across all of those, Superchat or Trengo is closer to what you need.
What about GDPR?
Superchat's German hosting and ISO 27001 certification are real advantages if your customers or your regulator ask for them. Meerlume publishes its data-processing terms and sub-processors, and serves European businesses, but it does not claim German-only hosting. If that specific guarantee is a requirement, Superchat is the safer choice.
Can I keep my WhatsApp Business number if I switch?
Yes. The number belongs to your Meta business account, not to the tool. You disconnect it from one platform and connect it to the next. With Meerlume, Meta bills your business account directly under its own pricing. No message fees pass through us.
Does Meerlume send WhatsApp newsletters?
No. Meerlume replies to customers who message you and sends the confirmations that go with a booking. It doesn't do broadcast campaigns. Superchat and Wati both do.
Can the bot speak German, Spanish, or Italian?
Yes. Describe the business in your own language and the whole bot is generated in it — questions, buttons, confirmations, and the system messages around them.
